What is ISQua?

ISQua is a member-based, not-for-profit community and organisation dedicated to promoting quality improvement in health care.

ISQua has been working to improve the quality and safety of health care worldwide for over 30 years.  They aim to achieve their goal through education, knowledge sharing, external evaluation, supporting health systems worldwide and connecting like-minded people through their health care networks.

What are the advantages of ISQua Membership?

Being an  ISQua Member is indeed an advantage because it gives you an international benchmark. That being said, you have to work with similar peers, learn from them, and get educated by them. When you get a surveyor on-site to look at your organization, there's a lot of learning that comes with it.

They are not there to inspect, but rather, they're there to give you or transfer to you the knowledge that's out there in the world. When you talk to people and you say, you're ISQUA Accredited, that give you also an international accreditation and helps the team always meet international standards.

ACCREDITATION AND STANDARDIZATION CONSULTANCY: Services

Accreditation & Certification Services

Accreditation is a process in which an organization outside the health care institution (usually nongovernmental) assesses the institution to determine if it meets a set of standards designed to improve the quality of care.

Once the accreditation standards are implemented, healthcare organizations are required to continually monitor structures, processes, and outcomes; measure indicators; evaluate and improve the quality of healthcare services.

The survey process is didactic and includes a process of observation, interview and document review by qualified and trained surveyors that are familiar with the healthcare environment.

After meeting the standards, the facility will then hold the SIMC accreditation/certification for two years.

Surveyors Training Program

Surveyors are a valuable and essential part of the SIMC accreditation process as they bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and expertise. SIMC surveyors are involved during the assessment activity of the on-site survey process. During this process, a team of peers conducts an on-site survey of the healthcare facility.

Standards

a.  The standards are divided into:

1. Critical Standards: which are standards that address laws and regulations which, if not met, may cause death or serious harm to patients, visitors, or staff.

 2. Core standards: which are standards addressing systems, processes, policies, and procedures that are important for patient care. However, partially met compliance with these standards must not pose a threat of harm or death for patients, visitors or staff.

3. Stretch standards: which are standards that are important, but not easy to implement due to time constraints, lack of resources, or a need for a cultural change.
